Treasurer

A rewarding Treasurer role supporting financial oversight and governance for a UK charity working on community health, family planning and environmental resilience in East Africa.

Our partner is a UK charity working to improve access to healthcare, family planning and environmental support for remote and underserved rural communities in East Africa. Working through local partners in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, they support programmes that empower women and girls, improve sexual and reproductive health, strengthen local health systems and help communities protect their natural environment.

The Treasurer will join the Board of Trustees and provide financial oversight, scrutiny and guidance as the charity continues to grow its impact. Working closely with the Chair, CEO and Finance Manager, the Treasurer will help the Board understand the charity’s financial position, advise on the financial implications of strategy, support the annual budget process, review management accounts and cashflow, and help ensure appropriate financial policies, controls and governance are in place.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial management, analysis or charity finance, with the confidence to interpret financial information clearly for non financial trustees. They will be comfortable operating at board level, able to offer constructive challenge, and understand the distinction between governance and operational management. Experience of UK charity accounting, restricted funds, governance or international development would be particularly valuable, although candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.

This is a rewarding voluntary trustee role with a growing and ambitious charity working with women, girls and rural communities across East Africa. The Board meets four times per year, with meetings held online and in person in London or Somerset, and additional light touch support provided remotely between meetings.
