Our partner is an Indonesian non-profit organisation working to support community-based natural resource management, sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation. The organisation works closely with fishing communities, women and young people to promote environmentally sustainable practices and strengthen local economic resilience.
As the organisation has grown, so too has the complexity of its donor reporting and financial management requirements. The finance team currently relies heavily on Excel-based systems and is now planning a transition to a more structured accounting platform to support improved financial management and reporting.
They are seeking a volunteer accountant or finance professional to work closely with the finance team to strengthen systems, improve consistency and support the transition to a new accounting platform.
Key areas of support are likely to include:
- Reviewing and refining budgeting and donor reporting templates
- Supporting the transition from Excel to a new accounting platform
- Strengthening donor reporting processes and consistency
- Supporting improvements to financial systems and controls
- Providing practical mentoring and on-the-job support to finance staff
This is a practical, hands-on placement focused on developing realistic and sustainable systems that work for the organisation and its team.
The placement would suit a collaborative and adaptable volunteer who is comfortable mentoring staff and supporting practical systems improvement within a small NGO environment.
