
Global Financial Controller
We are seeking a Global Financial Controller for a large international non-profit working across complex humanitarian and development contexts. This is a senior finance leadership role, responsible for strengthening financial accounting, reporting, compliance and control across multiple legal entities and international operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance leadership, regional teams and colleagues across the organisation to ensure that financial information is accurate, timely and useful for strategic decision-making. The role will support robust financial management across a substantial global programme portfolio, including institutional donor funding, multi-country operations and cross-organisational reporting.
This is a hands-on senior role, combining technical financial accounting and compliance with practical leadership, process improvement and team development. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring that finance systems, controls, reporting processes and statutory obligations remain strong, consistent and appropriate for a large international organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading global income and expenditure reporting, management information, budgeting and forecasting.
- Overseeing financial accounting and regulatory compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
- Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements, statutory reporting and audit processes.
- Strengthening financial controls, policies, procedures and reporting routines across the organisation.
- Providing financial analysis, reconciliations and reporting to support senior leadership and Board-level decision-making.
- Monitoring working capital, cash flow, banking arrangements and foreign exchange exposure.
- Supporting compliance with donor, statutory and organisational reporting requirements.
- Working with finance colleagues across regions and country programmes to improve consistency, accuracy and efficiency.
- Leading process improvement initiatives across financial reporting, controls and accounting systems.
- Providing mentoring, support and capacity building for finance teams and regional finance leaders.
- Working collaboratively across departments to strengthen financial operations, governance and finance business partnering.
About you
ou will be a qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA or equivalent, with significant senior finance and accounting experience in an international non-profit, NGO or similarly complex organisation. You will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent financial control experience and the ability to work across multiple entities, countries and reporting requirements.
You will have experience of financial reporting, statutory accounts, audit processes, budgeting, forecasting, donor compliance and management information in a complex international setting. Experience working with major institutional donors, restricted funding and multi-country programme finance would be highly valuable.
You will be comfortable leading and developing finance teams, supporting colleagues across different locations and communicating complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences. Strong analytical skills, sound judgement, excellent organisation and confidence using finance systems and Excel are essential.
This role would suit a practical, collaborative and technically strong finance leader who is able to combine high-level oversight with hands-on problem solving. The organisation is looking for someone who can strengthen systems and controls, support effective decision-making and help build finance capacity across a global structure.
The role is remote and UK based, with some international travel likely to be required.
