Finance Trustee
Our partner is the UK section of an international NGO with 45 years’ experience providing protection and support to human rights defenders facing reprisals because of their work for social justice. The organisation undertakes advocacy with governments and other stakeholders, promotes stronger regulation of international business activity and raises funds for its work in the UK and overseas.
The Finance Trustee will join the Board and help shape the organisation’s strategy while providing oversight of its financial management and sustainability. They will advise the Board and Director on financial matters, review financial controls and systems, support reserves and investment policies, oversee the audit process and serve on the Board Finance Committee.
The ideal candidate will bring financial management and analysis experience, an understanding of charity governance and knowledge of finance and fundraising practices relevant to NGOs. They will be able to communicate financial information clearly, exercise sound independent judgement and demonstrate a commitment to the organisation’s human rights objectives and values.
Trustees are expected to contribute approximately four hours per month. The Board meets quarterly through a combination of online meetings and one annual in-person meeting in London. The Finance Trustee will also participate in quarterly Finance Committee meetings, with occasional attendance at other events and fundraising meetings welcomed but not required.
