Trustee Finance Training
Our partner is a UK charity working internationally to support people affected by conflict and help build more peaceful and resilient societies. The organisation has annual income of approximately £12–14 million and is looking to strengthen the financial confidence and understanding of its Board.
They are seeking an experienced finance professional to prepare and deliver a two-hour online financial training session for trustees during October or November 2026. The session should be practical and accessible, helping trustees better understand the financial information they receive and their responsibilities for effective financial oversight.
Key areas of support
The session is expected to cover:
- Trustees’ financial responsibilities
- How to read and understand charity accounts and management reports
- Income and expenditure, balance sheets and cash flow
- Restricted and unrestricted funds
- Reserves and financial sustainability
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Financial risks and warning signs
The volunteer will also spend some time preparing the session in advance and tailoring the content appropriately for the trustee audience.
The ideal volunteer
We are looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong understanding of charity finance and the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to a non-finance audience.
It is particularly important that the volunteer has experience working with larger charities and financial operations of a similar scale, ideally organisations with annual income in excess of £10 million.
The assignment would suit someone with senior finance, Finance Director, CFO, Treasurer, audit or advisory experience who is confident presenting to trustees and able to make technical financial information practical and accessible.
Time commitment
The assignment will involve preparation followed by a two-hour online training session, to be delivered in October or November 2026. The overall time commitment required is up to 15 hours.
