
Global Finance Director
We are seeking a Global Finance Director for a large international non-profit working across humanitarian and development contexts. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for providing strategic financial direction, strengthening financial stewardship and ensuring robust finance, compliance and reporting across headquarters and international programme operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Executive, senior leadership colleagues and Board committees, providing high quality financial insight to support decision-making, long-term planning, organisational sustainability and effective governance.
This is a broad and influential role, combining financial strategy, donor compliance, risk management, budgeting, reporting, controls, treasury, audit and finance team leadership. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring finance is a strong partner to programme delivery, business development and organisational planning.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading the development and delivery of global finance strategy.
- Advising senior leadership and Board committees on financial performance, sustainability, risk and long-term planning.
- Leading multi-year budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial analysis.
- Overseeing global financial operations, including accounting, treasury, budgeting, reporting, systems and policy development.
- Ensuring accurate monthly management accounts, consolidated reporting and strong internal controls.
- Leading donor compliance and high quality grant financial management, including budgets, donor reporting, audits and partner due diligence.
- Managing financial risk, maintaining strong controls and supporting compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Supporting governance through Board reporting, statutory audits and engagement with auditors and financial advisers.
- Strengthening finance systems, reporting processes and data driven decision-making.
- Building and leading a high performing global finance team, strengthening financial literacy, collaboration and accountability across the organisation.
- Working with colleagues across regions and country programmes to improve consistency, efficiency and financial oversight.
About you
You will be a senior finance leader with significant experience in international non-profit, NGO, humanitarian or development finance. You will bring strong technical finance skills, sound judgement and the ability to operate confidently at senior leadership and Board level.
A recognised accounting qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CIPFA or equivalent, would be highly valuable. You will have strong experience across management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, financial reporting, audit, donor compliance, controls and financial risk management.
You will be used to working across complex international structures, with multiple entities, country operations and funding streams. Experience leading finance systems improvement, process change or wider finance transformation would be an advantage.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex financial information clearly to senior leaders, trustees and non-finance colleagues. Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capability and confidence using financial data to support strategic decision-making are essential.
