Our partner is a Ugandan social enterprise based near Kampala, working with single mothers, widows and teenage mothers to provide vocational training and income-generating opportunities through the production and sale of handmade crafts.
The organisation supports over 300 women artisans and has seen significant growth in recent years as income levels recover and international sales opportunities expand. As the organisation continues to grow, they are keen to strengthen their financial management systems and ensure that processes remain practical, sustainable and fit for purpose.
They are seeking a volunteer accountant or finance professional to work closely with the Founder and Managing Director to help strengthen budgeting, reporting and financial management processes.
Key areas of support are likely to include:
- Reviewing internal financial processes and controls
- Supporting effective use of Zoho Books
- Reviewing the chart of accounts and asset classification
- Strengthening budgeting and cashflow forecasting
- Developing simple management reporting tools
- Supporting audit preparation and financial documentation
This is a practical, capacity-building placement focused on developing systems and processes that are proportionate, sustainable and easy for the team to maintain going forward.
The placement would suit a hands-on volunteer who is collaborative, adaptable and comfortable working closely with a small local team.
The organisation is seeking support from April or May 2026 onwards, with flexibility depending on volunteer availability.
